Mom and I run into town. We don't have to take the car, it's not far until we locate the source of destruction along Main Street.
"What did you mean back there, honey?" Mom runs alongside me and she's a little out of breath. "Why would you think this is your fault?"
"Because I dreamt it."
I don't have to see her face to know she's frowning in concentration. I don't have time to look at her face, actually, because we've arrived at a scene of utter chaos.
He's here.
The gigantic Thad standing fifty feet tall with skin covered in green scales. Seeing his image in reality is worse than any nightmares about him combined. The metaphorical wind is knocked from my lungs, and I haven't even fallen over. It's the sight of him that's thrown me for a loop. All the destruction he's causing has me momentarily grounded in shock. I can't move a muscle because I can't believe this is happening.
"Kate!" I hear someone scream my name. As if in slow-motion I look to my right as Shana comes charging towards me. What's also heading in a collision course with my body is a car.
I assume this has been thrown towards me by the very large snake-skinned Thad.
There's only a split second to let this register on my mind before Shana throws herself into me, knocking me sideways into my mom.
We both manage to escape maiming by a car having been hurled at high velocity.
Landing on my side hurts and I grunt in displeasure. At least crashing to the ground has woken me from my shocked stupor.
"Are you okay?" Mom asks me and Shana. "Let's get you two out of harmâs way."
Scrabbling up onto our feet we duck around the end of the row of buildings that line Main Street on the West side. Mom peeks around the edge of the brick wall and I have a look to see what's happening too.
It's incredible. A sight to behold. There are Titan gods all standing and fighting at Thad's feet. Some of them have teenagers who I go to school with. All of them are wearing the same type of golden armour my Dad is sporting. They all have gleaming weapons too, most of which are swords, but I swear one of the Titan goddesses was wielding a golden mace.
The Titans who don't have weapons don't seem to need them. They have bursts of light and strange emanations of power flowing right out of their hands.
All of their actions are aimed towards Thad as he smashes his way through town.
"They have to stop him reaching the residential areas!" Mom yells. "Everyone's been evacuated from this street, but I dread to think what he'll do to the towns people if they don't escape their homes soon."
This is bad. Really, really bad. And it's all my fault. I've got to do something to help!
The one thing I've gratefully noticed is that monster-sized Thad isn't in possession of any screaming teenage girls. I don't know if this is a good thing though.
